There have been so many activities over the past couple of weeks in which Middle School students have been involved. Thank you to all of the Middle School students who assisted with the Primary Jumps and Athletics days, ArtFeast activities, U8s Day and other events in the School. Also, congratulations to the many students who have represented the School in Bundaberg and Wide Bay teams at carnivals around Queensland. It is amazing to see so many of our students representing their school, district and the region in a variety of sports and to see them acknowledged at our weekly Assembly.
Finally, congratulations to all of the Middle School students who participated in the recent Maths Team Challenge, our two teams of students who competed in the Readers Cup in Hervey Bay and our debating teams who have participated in this year’s inter-school debating competition. While these teams have achieved some outstanding results, it is the manner in which our students conduct themselves, and the skills that they have developed by engaging in these opportunities, for which they really need to be commended.
Recently, a review into the various awards processes at St Luke’s was conducted. Out of this process came several changes to academic awards in the Middle School. As of this year, we will be changing the way that we acknowledge academic achievement at our annual Awards Evening. Subject and Principal’s Awards will no longer be presented. In place of these awards, will be acknowledging Academic Excellence, Academic Merit and Attitude and Application. We feel that these changes will allow us to better acknowledge the amazing academic achievements of our students. Academic Colours will continue to be presented at a special Academic Colours Assembly early in the new academic year. The specifics of these changes will be available on the School website in due course.
