Principal's Message

Mar 19th 2020

Thank You

I wish to pass on my thanks and congratulations for how reasonably our School community has responded to the evolving nature of the COVID 19 situation and worked with us to maintain a sense of routine at school. It has certainly been a very busy and interesting week, unprecedented in my experience.

The School has planning in place for a broad range of scenarios. Our focus is on ensuring we can continue to offer a quality educational experience for our students irrespective of decisions to remain open or close. Our focus is also on providing accurate up to date information and advice in an open and transparent manner. The COVID 19 section on our website contains all current advice and correspondence.

Our plan is to remain open as normal unless advised otherwise by the relevant authorities.

Students Absent

If students are at home we recommend they establish a routine with their school work. A guide is 45 minutes to an hour per subject per day, including music practice and physical exercise starting at 8.30 am with normal breaks. We also recommend students to develop a journal reflecting on their learning for that day. This can be developed as a google document, entries each day and shared with their PC or core teacher. We recommend parents regularly review this journal and the work the students have performed that day.

The PC or Core teacher will contact the student at least once during the week to touch base with how things are going. This will be by phone, email or video.

Our teachers are working normal business hours. If your child is absent please respect the hours our teachers are working, it is unrealistic to expect that work can be checked or reviewed the same day. We have a 48 hour response time for emails.

Online Platforms

The School is able to continue student learning via our online platforms. The students are aware of what they need to do to access and engage with these platforms.

You will have received correspondence from Mrs Lassman, Mr Hughes or Mrs Deer regarding arrangements for assessment if absent. Please contact the relevant Head of School with any further queries.

This is a very fluid and challenging situation. Thank you for your ongoing support, cooperation and understanding.

God’s blessing for all.

Mr Craig Merritt
